I have a new free account. Every time I try to create sets I get to the "Choose a topic from the 'add' button" and then get nothing but "error on page".

most likely the issue is your browser...for whatever reason, numerous features and widgets on Zooomr don't support IE. try using Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or just about anything but IE.
