John Fairbanks was one of the original settlers of Payson, Utah, and built this adobe home there. Brigham Young stopped in regularly on his way through the area, and reportedly was staying in the house when the Transcontinental Railroad was completed. The house now stands at This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City.

Shortly after the Latter-day Saints arrived in Utah, they built a bowery on Temple Square for meetings and other activities, like this replica at This Is The Place Heritage Park. The bowery was replaced by the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

The figures of Wilford Woodruff, Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball have looked out from the top of the This Is The Place Monument in Salt Lake City since 1947. The monument commemorates the arrival of the Mormon Pioneers, as well as the exploration by the Spanish Fathers Escalante and Dominguez as well as trappers and mountain men.

LDS Apostle and scientist Orson Pratt had an observatory like this on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Aside from astronomical observations, it was also where time was set for Utah, and the Base and Meridian for Utah was established.

Ebenezer Bryce, a shipwright, built the original Pine Valley Church in southern Utah. He based his design on a ship's hull, and said it would even float if a flood came. The original still stands in Pine Valley.

If you look at the ceiling, you can see the curved shape that belies its nautical origins. In addition to being a house of worship, the building also served as a schoolhouse.
